Slow downs and full install

So far I'm enjoying the game but the game seems to just stop for too often. This appears to happen when the game is loading something be it a new gang of monsters ot a new tune. The game starts up again; but this pause it annoying.

I have an Athlon 850 system with plenty of RAM so i assume I'm not underpowered for the game. I didn't doa full install so perhaps that's part fo the problem. Which brings me to my question.

I'd like to do a full install and see if this resolves my problem; but I don't want to lose my game. How do I go about transfering this game and chanracters to the full install? What files should I backup?
