Storyline -- the thing lacking?

If storyline is the thing that's lacking, AFAIK, S&S has a complex storyline. You can choose to take the direct route, following the clues that lead you to the end, or opt for taking the additional side trails & quests to make it an even richer environment to discover. Side quests probably lean BACK into the main story in some fashion, so there would be very little out-of-place adventures.
